5 no-bullshit secrets for lasting weight loss

5 no-bullshit secrets for lasting weight loss // a light edit

If you’re driven to shed some pounds in the new year, make it easier on yourself. In addition to eating intentionally and exercising regularly, there are a few tricks you can put to use that will help you lose more weight and keep it off.

Here are my five no-bullshit secrets for slimming down, no torture required.

Cook in big batches

The best way to set yourself up for dieting success is to have plenty of nutritious, filling food on hand. So 1-3 times a week, cook up a huge batch of chili, soup, or another nutritious dish for dinner, and store the leftovers for grab-and-go lunches throughout the week. Hit the gym in the afternoon

If your work schedule allows, pencil in your workouts for the lunch hour. By planning your workouts for midday, you’re less likely to skip the gym when you’re sleepy in the early mornings and evenings. Better yet, you’ll be less likely to overindulge or snack post-workout when you know a healthy lunch waits for you in the fridge.

Fill up on fruit and vegetables

You can indulge in your favorite fat-laden foods and still lose weight, as long as you do it in moderation. So if you’re craving an ice cream cone or cheeseburger, have one. But be sure that you fill up on fresh fruits and veggies beforehand.

Give tea a try

For those evenings you’re lounging on the sofa and your mind wanders to the donuts in the kitchen, try brewing a cup of tea instead. Drinking tea gives you something to do with your hands and you can get calorie-free varieties that taste like chocolate, mint, or cake!

Throw out your clothes

When you start to see results, your clothes should fit a bit looser. Get to work on replenishing your wardrobe with small sizes, immediately. Not only do you deserve a reward for your achievements, but getting rid of your larger clothes makes you more committed to keeping the weight off.
